Ok so i am replacing my diverter o-ring for the 4 millionth time :banghead:... Is this an actual diverter setup or just something the previous owner chopped out and made work. I keep blowing o-rings and i am thinking the bowl is just worn out. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

wow... check out that relic, never seen one of those before, that's cool. That certainly appears to be a factory part with the way it's cast. ( integrated tiller arm attachment for the E pump style steering assembly etc.). It's a little difficult to see clearly in that pic but there is a shiny line there in the socket side of your C bowl that appears and suggests that's a high wear area, is it worn down or kinda grooved out in that area? You might be able to switch up to the thicker style o-ring if it currently uses the standard thinner one and get away with it but that would likely require machining one or both parts. Need more info to tell for sure. How thick is the o-ring being used and how/where is it blowing out specifically?

Ya it's a relic alright! :D Does the job for now tho. I am just sick of replacing the nozzle o-ring. I can take a better picture of the socket when I get home. I did order the thicker o-ring once but I would need to machine the groove on the nozzle for it to even fit on the nozzle and then it is also to big for the socket. What I can figure is that the area by each pivot pin is machined out lower than the rest of the socket. This is the area where the o-ring starts to come out and then it just continues to work it's way out around the socket. Usually from both top and bottom. It might just be a flaw in the way this setup was designed. I am not overly knowledgeable on the pumps but I did manage to do all the pump work myself on this one. Was a fun learning experience.

BUT IM WONDERING IF IT WAS SHAVED TOO MUCH OR THE LIMITS ARENT SET RITE MAKING THE NOZZLE GO BEYOND ITS LIMIT. IM NO EXPERT BUT LOOKS THAT WAY. MAYBE SET THE LIMIT SO THAT THE NOZZLE DOESNT GO ALL THE WAY UP.

That sounds exactly like what i have... Were do the limits get set?? There is nothing on the nozzle i can set. Would it be in the house of the diverter hand itself?

Like I said not a expert but I think you can Just put your nozzle all the way up with the shifter and then adjust the cable at the nozzle so it doesn't let it go up as far. The cable ends should be adjustable as far as how much throw in each direction

I will keep you posted... I would like to learn some more about the JE pumps though... Seems like a good pump. I don't know if it is worth upgrading to a new bowl and new style diverter or not. I don't know if i will gain anything by switching. I can gps at 85mph now and don't think i should go for anymore speed with a v bottom style boat. Tends to wanna steer itself when i come off the power. Running a aa aluminum impeller now....

Wow 85 is awesome haha. Sounds like it's runnin good. I have the JF which I can't tell much difference in the JE other than the split bowl. I hear it's not the most preferred pump because of the intake angle and the fact that the hull has to be made for it. But I love mine and that the clean out is outside the transom. And your hitting 85 so that gives me some hope. Haha

Thanks... Ya my goal is 100mph but i will need a different haul and some more ponies. Lol. Maybe this is a overly rookie question but what is a split bowl? I will post some pictures tomorrow once i put on my new set of basset twistie headers!!

Is there any numbers on the bowl i can look for to see if someone put a jf bowl onto this je pump?

Damn. Haha. Ours are non split bowl. The split bowl is a 2 piece deal where you can bolt on droop snoots and stuff like wedges and some goodies like that.
Nice I dig those twisties. If you haven't heard of it already you should check out cpperformance online. It's like toys r us for jet boats. Haha

Lol i shop on cp a lot!!! I just looked at the pump diagrams and figured out the split bowl thing. I am never afraid to ask questions... Rather get the right answer then guess.. Lol

From the diagrams looks like jf and je look the same.. Maybe a difference in how the veins are cast inside.

Ok nice. Yeah I hear ya. Never hurts to ask and everybody is cool here and helpful. I've only been a jet boater for four years and I still have a lot to learn which is good. I dig them all. Such rad machines. No bs just simple hot rods

Yeah I have no idea what the difference is. I haven't touched my pump. It runs good and I've been doing other stuff like intake manifold, just redid the wood for my seats , motor mount, exhaust hoses untill I get headers ". Dude that had it before must not of been mechanical savvy at all. Haha
