Went to test buddy's boat and on hard acceleration water fill bilge area . Checked packing on shaft it was good .
Suction housing bolts tight . Doesn't slip or have any cavitation . Could it be leaking that much water from bowl?

Clean out was on tight? Had a boat fill up with water because we forgot to tighten it.

Had a pinched clean out o-ring once. Is that a lot of water or what?
Could be a hose, could be a crack in the boat bottom, exhaust system leak, block plugs, bowl gasket, cracked punp.
It seems there's more ways for water to get in then there are to get it out.

Definitely get an idea where it's coming from. Are you sure it's coming from the pump?
When I first got my boat, after 10 minutes of running, I had water spraying from the passenger side of my motor. Looked and couldn't find it. New water lines all tight, not leaking from jet.
Took the boat out again same thing. Finally sitting in the back seat driver's side scratching my head, I notice water dribbling down the side of the block between the freeze plugs.
The block decided to be nice and leave the freeze plugs alone cracked instead.
:banghead:
Water was filling the bilge and hitting the flywheel, spraying towards the passenger side.
I also remember a thread on one of the forums about a guy with a crack in the hull that only leaked while under way.
Good luck to your buddy.

The river race boat I put together had a hat injected big block on alcohol.
I built the pump too tight and it made a ton of water pressure to the cooling system.
First quick run it blew two....... TWO! Freeze plugs out of the block. I've never seen that much water inside a boat that was still able to float. Lol

Check the intake epoxy for cracks around the front of the intake where it meets the hull..

I seen this in quite a few boat after making passes even in mine and Dennis boats. Botha boats could drive around all day at 85 mph and never see in water. When either went in made a big NOS pass you got a free quart of water. Go figure never was a big deal to me I had a real nice bilge pump.

If your rub rail was anywhere near the water at wide open throttle, water in the bilge is the small problem...
