Pump seal/packing
« on: April 30, 2014, 12:34:07 PM »
So my boat takes on some water. A little more than usual. I can see some seeping in from where the pump comes through the transom. But it seems as the faster I go the more comes in? Anyone have some thought or problems or what sealant to use on this application if it ends up being a simple leak? Anybody in the san diego area wanna talk it over that would be cool. Ill get some beer!

So is it leaking at the packing or the trans cover?

Transom bezel should be dry when you're planed out. If the suction housing is loose where it bolts to the intake it will leak more the faster you go. Don't overtighten, just sung the bolts... Otherwise you'll strip one and have to through bolt it.
