Title: berkeley pump wear ring

so ive done impeller changes  and replaced main bearings in berkeleys but how do I pull the wear ring? I havent tried yet my buddy just came up to me tonight with a new aa impeller and wear ring for his boat and i have done the impeller  part but not the wearring part.   so how do i pull the wear ring out?  O0

I use a mapp gas torch and burn the insulator ring all the way around until it smokes and/or catches fire. Then with a shorty screwdriver i nicely pry all the way around between the wear ring and suck housing. When you get it too far out that the screw driver wont work anymore i use a long screw driver and go through the bottom or the packing hole and pop it out the rest of the way. JUST DONT GOUGE THE SUCK HOUSING. Matt
