I have looked for a rebuild kit and cant find one for this pump. Is it too old or something do i need to change or update this pump?
Any help will be greatly appreciated

the 12JG rebuild kit will work for your 12JB. The JB pump has the same components as the JC and JG. The JG is a split bowl like the JB except the outlet vanes of bowl extend all the way to the nozzle housing flange of the bowl, where as the JB doesnt. It's the only difference.

Thanks, i called cp performance and they said the rebuild kit fits all the berkely's.
Now i got to tear it apart, it sat for nine years does it matter or should it be rebuilt? Im doing the rebuild on the 454 right now and thought since its out maybe i should throw a kit in the pump? Now for a new adventure something i haven't done before :) Wish me luck ;)

I say rebuild it now while its out and apart rather then risking blowing a weekend on the water cuz your pump went bad. ;D

I don't care if it's changed many hands or just 2 hands, 9 years is a long time and it should be checked out no matter how reliable the source is/was. If you have more time than money, do it yourself with PPP.

not trying to jack the thread, but question for tom or anyone that can answer, i am getting ready to reasslemble the boat and have the bowl off my jet (berk 12jg), inside the pump at the very back there is a threaded hole in the middle, i have nothing in there, when i ordered gaskets i saw a plug was supposed to be there, i did order it, but what the hell is it for and what does it do?? kinda looks like a black butt plug (keep the comment to yourself beerjet ;D), should i reinstall it or leave it out?? thanks in advance

I assume youre talking about item 11 on this schematic:
http://www.cpperformance.com/products/Jet-Drives/Berkeley/12jg_parts-drawing.htm
11 1 Bowl End Cap 150-S09850
The one i have doesnt look like the one pictured (flat with a flathead screwdriver head)....it looks more like the "butt plug" that you described....or the thing the doc uses to look in your ear.
I say put it in there...i assume with the way its shaped, it helps bowl flow.

yep, thats it, but what is it ???

A butt plug.
Seriously, it keeps the oil in the pump! Maybe, just maybe, if it's water cooled you remove it? ???
