Not enough water at WOT
« on: August 31, 2014, 07:48:01 AM »
I put another post up about by ride plate bolts being bent and I went ahead and straightened that out. My question is there a way ur pump can't be getting enough water at WOT?  It seems I has a lot of power and great speed but when I get to the WOT it is lacking something. By the way I got 82 baja 18 br 460 and Berkley jet. Could I have adjusted the plate wrong

Can't seem to find the hidden question in there.

What is it lacking?

Sounds like you have good power, your happy with the speed. ..

Unless it takes a week to get there, what's the issue.?

At wot it seems to lose power. So much so that I have to let off the throttle to make it have power again.

You are not running out of water. Only way you'll know that is by having data or the pump tapped for pressure. Sounds like a motor issue there.

Have you checked your fuel pressure under a load?  Make sure your fuel lines if there rubber aren't collapsing. Make sure the vents on the tanks are working. On a calm day run it with the fuel cap off and see if that helps.

I think too much air not enough fuel. I had that problem with my 460. Stock off the shelf fuel pump did not pump enough. My fuel pressure went from 7 to 3 psi at wide open throttle with a Holley 650 single feed. Put on a good Holley high volume pump and I bumped the Jets up from 72 to 74 in all 4 corners. Then my engine came alive. No more stumble transitions were good then I could hold it wide open throttle with no problems.
Just thought I would throw that out there :)
