ok so i see alot of Berkley jets here.. and almost no Jacuzzi.... why is that??? I mean are jacuzzis bad? old? or slow?

Leave it be. Tom at JBP will be the first to tell you you can get very respectible results from a Jacuzzi WJ. Have one boat being worked on right now with a WJ, and just bought another. Other two running boats and the remaining 3 are Berk's, but hey? who's counting?  ;D

Racing, etc, or just looking for max performance, Berkeley IS going to outshine the Jacuzzi. But in those circles, I think you really need to look at AT as well. JMO.

im just making sure because i only want a reliable boat... speed is secondary at this point... and im just making sure i got a reliable wj....

The WJ is a good pump, no reason to replace it.  Now if you had a YJ I would recommend either replace it or get an energizer kit for it.

 X2,  If its a WJ and your looking for a good reliable pump with reasonable performance, leave it.  If its a YJ, and you want anykind of performance out of it, rip it out.

 OK beerjet. Like everyone said, WJ = good, But theres NO WAY that boat had a YJ in it !!!

How about a Dominator Jet? That's what I have on mine. I dont hear too much about them and it doesnt seem like many (or any) people on these forums have one.

 Very good pump.  Not sure about the circle racers, but alot of the drag boat guys run them, the suction housing is thicker/stronger and can handle more abuse than some of the others.  :thumbup:

 Yea, it will say WJ on a tag somewhere on the front of the pump.  Its easy to tell the difference just by looking though.  The WJ has a 2 piece bowl / nozzle housing (like a split bowl Berk). It has 4 bolts that hold the nozzle housing to the bowl.  The YJ is a one piece bowl / nozzle housing.

We love all Gods little Jet "children" They all work and can all be made to work better,Jac  Yjs and Panthers (Axial flow jets) have their own place in life the move large volumes of water and are very good at getting big boats (tugs cruisers etc) up and out of the water , they dont (IMO) respond to bigger "added" HP and if used for performance should be considered for an "energizer kit" (Berk style internal and external conversion) to make them a "mixed flow pump" .Jacuzzi WJ are actually "beefier and stronger" in many way than Berks and are remarcably similar internally and actually share a few common parts . The WJ is a Great jet lend well to mods and works well with 500+ Hp (and a few tricks) We have expirimented with them for years , My RR Miller runs 80 @5100 with a Small CU BBC and a WJ (and a few mods , this past winter we began producing a Stainless wear ring and Berk style Impeller to "retro fit" to the WJ We also have a few other WJ goodies in the works as well Tom

BTW the WJ is "hands down" the simplest jet of all to overhaul IMO  ;)
