are berkley 12jc pumps any good.just wondering cause i run a panther.and looking at a 18ft with berk.as a project

I've had NO PROBLEMS with mine; of course, I haven't had the boat in the water yet. 

one of the downsides to the JC is that it is not a split bowl

Can someone explain the split bowl: purpose, advantages, etc.

You can see on mine I have the droop bolted between the bowl and diverter . You can also add wedges between the bowl and the droop to further fine tune your set up



A diverter can be bolted to a JC bowl thus eleiminating most of the hassle of running and experamenting with all these wedges and droops and snoots and extension and so on and so on . On a recreational boat that will only see lake and river weekend conditions , a diverter bolted to a JC bowl will be just fine since the JC bowl veins are a longer , straighter shot to the end of it's path (being the end of your nozzle) the JC bowl flows very well . With a Place Diverter you will also have a lot of adjustability and not have to deal with trying to figure out how to even get a baseline for all the split bowl gear . With a split bowl there is a ton of adjustability and when you couple it a shoe and ride plate , you can spend days on top of days trying to get all this adjustability to work correctly . If you ask RWYATTB how fast a boat with all this adjustabilitly that is not set-up just right or even close will pitch you into the water . Its a double edge sword and in 90% of boats the JC is just fine . If there is any incorrect statement or info or something I left out , Please feel free to correct me .

if you not looking to set any speed records or looking for cool factor you dont need a ride plate. its like beerjet said it gets ugly when they are NOT set up rite

Could you go into that ugly part a little bit more, what happens if it's not set up right? On a pure guess, how much MPH do you think it would be possible to gain with a shoe and a ride plate?     Some day I'd like to add a ride plate and shoe to my Rogers.

i'm no expert but i can give you my personal experience. out at ming my ride plate was set with 0 degree and my firtst practice on friday night 70 or so mph i let off getting set for the corner and it hooked right and almost pitched my azz out. so i raised it up 2 degrees and it got better but still twitchy when i let off.

out to parker same 2 deg rougher water getting set for turn one hooked right at about 60 and put me in the next lane. so i raised it up another 1.5 and it got better but i still cant get off the gas without pedling it. so i think i need another .5 up.

as for mph gain i dont know because of the speed limit, hell i dont even know how fast the damn boat is.

I heard that the 12JR is a factory race pump... 

From what I've gathered it's and updated version of the JG . Just like the JG was an updated version of the JB. I'm just pissing into the wind here on my post.
