"A deal I couldn’t refuse" that’s what I keep telling myself.. But I just bought a boat (Literally 10 hours ago) a 1980 Southwind boat with a 424 Motor and Dual Holly Carbs the pump is a Jacuzzi jet boat pump. Sounds like I know what I’m saying... sure don’t...   :screwy:    I know Motors just fine. But Jet Pumps... Not one bit.  I was told that I shouldn’t start the boat out of water and if I have too... just put a water hose at the end... Now currently I Have a Yamaha jet skies and I connect a water hose to them in a particular spot... But the Jacuzzi pump doesn’t have a port for that?? :banghead: .. Do they make one to attach somewhere? HEEEELLLP! Duh..

More dumb questions to come! But Thanks guys!

Welcome to SCJB  ;D

First off, if you plan on starting it on the trailer you need water going to the engine and the jet.  Look for a hose connection in between the jet and the engine (the inlet hose to the engine).  If there isn't a hose connection, you should add one before trying to run it.  You will also want to run water directly into the jet.

Now Jacuzzi built two common jets used in small runabout boats.  If you post some pics we can help you determine what you have just purchased.

Also, I'm not aware of a combination that will come up to a 424ci engine.  What brand engine is it (Chevy, Ford, Oldsmobile)?

We are very visual people and require pictures to understand anything more than.... nevermind  ;)

Thanks Chief  ;D I Saw what you where talking about on the Jet pump inside,  I followed a Hose directly plugged into the jet that goes from the Jet into a Water Valve that can be opened or closed. I figure this is what you’re talking about...... Pic Provided (Valve 1 & 2 )...This valve has a quick disconnect like a garden hose would.. This also does go straight into the motor as well...Is this is it...if so, I believe you mentioned to plug a water hose directly into the Motor using this quick disconnect and also The jet Pump in the back.. 2 Water hoses right  :screwy: Makes sense now... I only want turn it on for the sake of a tune-up before I get to the river... Wouldn’t want to be one of those guys that keeps the ramp occupied for too long. I am taking it to the River this weekend in Laughlin.. So thanks for the help Chief…
Ps...
Minor Mistake by me as well, I meant a 454 Chevy Motor  :banghead:

This is the preferred way of running it on the trailer, but most boats don't have a coupler that can be disconnected easily.
