I am planning on rebuilding my pump. How tough is to do or is there any advice or articles to read? Any information will help not planning taking the pump completely out but need to replace thrust bearing and wearing ring. Thanks

Where are you located?
It really is not that tough. The hardest things are getting the impeller and the thrust bearing off the shaft.. The next difficult part is the packing and the wear ring.
A spline socket (or old yoke and a piece of pipe) and an impeller puller are a must as far as tools.
I can do one from start to finish in about three hours if already removed from the hull.
You will have to have the impeller wear surface cut to match the new wear ring, in most cases I recommend buying an extra impeller and having your old one machined to keep as the back up for when you build again in a year or two...
Nothing quite like a fresh pump.
