Title: bowl change?
Post by: eliminatethis on November 29, 2010, 10:35:27 AM
I have a 1979 sleek craft SST with a 12JF-A pump with a place div. on it. would I be better off with a split bowl ? I would like to run a rooster booster or can I simulate some other way and keep the one piece bowl?

A split bowl with standard nozzle adaptor is a simple swap for your "F" however a rooster booster , significant wedges or droop for example will need some engineering (steering) to make it work If you do this recommend you give some thought to abandoning your standard low mount steering for what we call a splash well style Tom

The JE in my Moo is going to have a similar JG bowl swap for wedges. I don't forsee any real issues. A droop or booster, yeah, steering would be interesting, but could be done.

Ray a Guy once told me with some vasoline and perserverance you can screw an alley cat too  ;)  Easyist way to make those type changes to "e"s and "f's is to swap the steering like Josh does , then the world of berk boltons is cake

"E" steering swap

Not quite what I had in mind, Tom, but you guys know better than me. We'll see when I get into it. Right now it's the engine and a few other surprises, but I really wanted to keep the "condom" , as Skip called it, over the pump and the original steering I think CAN work. Much like it's old throttle linkages............... :screwy:  Not the prettiest, but allowed the configuration I wanted on the T/R, worked like SNAP, and all plug readings were even...........

Great pics though if I have to revert my thinking on it! Thanks Bro! On way or anoher, it will be dne and WILL have much more roost  ;)
