Title: Can a JE pump use a JG bowl
Post by: mow1970 on March 22, 2010, 06:12:38 PM
My boat came with a JE pump and I picked up a JC on an old Tahiti but to put the JC in my boat would take some major hull cutting! I am a first time jet boat owner and went for the project boat first!  So my questions are 1:  What are the disadvantages to the JE?  2: Will the JG bowl work on it? and 3: If I am running a stock big block, what impeller should I get with the JE rebuild kit?

I wouldn't bother with a bowl change on the JE, myself. Although it will fit, I think the "deficiencies" they talk of on the JE relate to intake size, volume, etc. Haven't noticed these "deficiencies" much myself,  comparing performance of my JE with my JG or JC. It's just a little different, but uses mostly the same parts! What I see as an advantage is the impeller is MUCH closer to the water, and water from the intake has a far less path to travel to get to it. Plus one less leak point. But I ain't racing it either.

JMO. Throw on a diverter and a loader and I think the JE will surprise you on it's own!

I think the JE  is ok  everybody hates it but i have no problems high 60 is all you going to get with it unless you dump a shtt load of money in to it

Ahhhh  the "misunderstood" 12JE , Fact is !!  if you superimpose (contrast) the "E" silhouette over a 12j " anything else" there damn near identical (we've done this with the magic of computers) . Theres some subtle differences in the design obviously and they ("E"'s) dont have the same loader and shoe areas but they work very well seen quite a few very fast jets with "E''s and "F"'s  Tom
