It all depends on how you plan on using the boat.

The Jacuzzi WJ is a good pump similar in design to the Berk and can be a good performance pump (can get expensive).

The Jacuzzi YJ is an axial flow pump that works better at a lower rpm, but for most river boats is useable without complaint.

Now to your original question... Yes you can swap a Berkeley in place of a Jacuzzi but it is a lot of work because of having to change out the intake assembly.

Good luck  ;D

Yj Jacuzzi jets work very well and are great "work horse jets" they can easily get big boats up and out taking advantage of "smaller motors" and smaller HP (down to around 150 hp) and if maintained will provide years of service .They are not however "performance jets" and don't lend them selves to much in terms of mods beyond the "energizer kits" (AT/Dom conversions) WJ Jacuzzis are fine jets easy to work on and have lots of mods available to them well in advance of an energizer, Any Jacuzzi can be replaced with a Berk/AT/Dom or Aggressor with some bottom work and engenuity, the intake access opening in the bottom of the boat for the YJ is huge and has to be "closed in" the Wj opening is actually too small for Berk style intake and needs to be enlarged (making it fairly simple) we've done all of these "swaps" and are happy to help in whatever you endeavor .. Tom

FWIW theres a couple new jets coming soon to the market that are remarkably similar in design to the much maligned YJ  ;)

I posted in your other thread, but my recent experience with the 455/YJ combo was quite impressive. To Tom's point, its all in what you're trying to accomplish. But I was actually set aback with the performance. And I KNOW this pump is a lil tired, but to be honest, this thing, as bad mechanically as it seemed, outperformed my old Biesemeyer 21' with a 460/Berk combo. by a LOT!!
