Pump rebulders in wisconsin????????????
« on: November 14, 2010, 06:34:39 PM »
Does anybody in southern/central Wisconsin rebuild pumps? I have a 12JE, that I understand is not meant to be removed from the hull, so shipping it out is not an option. I have been reading many posts on this sight, and have decided that replacing a wear ring, and impeller is above my abillities, due to the precision required to install the wear ring, and set the gap. Is there anybody out there where I can just drop the boat off, and write them a check? I can pull the motor out myself to make the pump work more easy, or do you not need to pull the pump shaft out to change the impeller/wear ring? Any help would be great! Thanks

L/I/L this jet work on your boat is relatively simple and with some coaching from folks here I'm sure you could knock it out your self  , You JE jet was designed/installed  to be serviced in the boat which means that the engine will need to be detached and moved out of the way IF you elect to pull it down that far , to simply replace the impeller and wear ring is about an hour work don't hesiate to call if we can help Tom

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I am a plumber by trade, so I am pretty mechanicly inclined. I know I most likely can do the impeller/ wear ring swap, I just get intimidated by any work that requires percision tolerences. I also am most worried about getting the new wear ring in "square", but I know many of the guys here do it all the time, so it must not be that bad. My front seal leaks a little bit, but I know I can handle that. Everything else seems like basic mechanics.

Tell ya what you come out here and bring the boat and crawl under my house (36" crawl space) with the creepy A$$ crawly things to fix my drip and I'll fix the boat for free . This job is not difficult and we will all help you do it right don't sweat it ! Tom

Tom, thats the best offer I have ever heard! Only thing is, I could proubly order a brand new ULTRA for less money than I would spend on gas towing my boat out to your place from WI. It is now officially winter around here, and we have had snow north of me.  My boat is winterized, and stored, so I won't be doing any work on it until spring. I'm sure I will post a few questions over the winter, and by about mid-April, I'll get the boat out and start working on it. Thanks for the P.M. and I will call you when I closer to actually doing anything to the pump. Rick
