So Im trying to get my boat done for the big trip to avi in july. Motors out replacing a stringers and yanked out the pump. Tear the pump apart and find that the impeller on the exit side is craked in two places on the same fin. The one in the middle of the fin is about a quarter inch long and the other one is where the fin attaches to the dish is about half an inch. Now my question is can these cracks be welded and reparied. Because the rest of the impeller is in good condition and actually looks like it had some work done to it before i got the boat. Any help would be great thanks.

I would say no......honestly, now would be the time to slap a new one in there. Why risk it and have to rip everything out again?

He rebuilds these pumps all the time and might be able to give you some insight on repairing vs replacing.

I have an aluminum "B" cut impellor that looks like new but is used. It's in a 12JC on my garage floor right now. There's something wrong with the pump, not sure what's wrong with it. It makes a slight scraping sound when it's turned. Also, the pump's intake was cracked at some point in it's life and it was professionally (looking) repaired. $140 for the pump (pump housing, impellor, impellor shaft). Maybe you know how they come apart ( ? ) and you can buy the impellor from me for $40. I also have a stainless "B" cut impellor that's in a 12JB on my garage floor, turns very tight - not sure if it's set up that way or if there's something wrong with it, I'll sell you that pump (pump housing, impellor, impellor shaft) for $625. Maybe you know how they come apart ( ? ) and you can buy the impellor from me for $450. I also have a 12JC that's still in a rotten hull and I need to pull it out. That pump hasn't been turned by hand as of yet but the engine runs and there are no abnormal sounds coming out of the pump. Aluminum "A" cut impellor with a some chips in it, nothing major, should be ready to drop in and go for $220 (pump housing, impellor, impellor shaft). In my Rogers I have a 12JC that was rebuilt and had two lake trips put on it, new aluminum "A" cut impellor, RTR drop in and go, needs to be pulled out of my hull, for $350 (pump housing, impellor, and impellor shaft). Thanks hotrod if i can't get this one fixed I might have to take you up one of those deals. And in regards to marcs question it is aluminum and its probably 450 hp nothing to crazy at all. I'll give jim a call tommorow as well thanks guys.

Yes you should replace it . A new one will run you $200-300 with wear ring . I think .
