Has anyone taken their place diverter completely apart? I would like to hard anodize it to protect it from the salt as the powder coating has already flaked off. I've got it all apart except for the reverse bucket. Any tricks to remove the pins?

Pretty simlple to get apart , little dicey to compress the inner double seal when reassembling, don't lose site of the fact that the powder coat makes up/compensates for some of the tolerances so bead blasting or stripping to polish or annodize will make tolerances slightly loose . re the pins eveything should simply push aprt once the set screws are out , the blind pins sometimes need to be drilled and tapped to pull with a slide hammer call or post up if you need help Tom

I took mine apart to paint it. The reverse bucket pins are a bitch! :banghead: BUT, they do come out. I used 2 small pointed picks, one on each side and rocked them out. Drilling & tapping as Tom said would work too, if you've got bits and taps to do stainless...

If it sat in salt water long enough for the powdercoat to flake off , I don't think those pins are coming out easily no matter what you do!

I drilled and tapped the reverse bucket pins, and got them out with the slide hammer. They were in there pretty good. After hard anodizing, I plan on painting with appliance epoxy. So far it seems to be holding up on the motor. Thanks Tom.

Good for you , we use high quality canned paints for alot of jet exteriors and small pieces and if prepped thoroughly the epoxy will work well , although we powder coat alot of the new parts we manufature we seldom re-powder coat anything anymore , Be sure to examine that internal double seal well and use silicone grease to reassemble it Tom
