Pics of reverse gate/bucket position when in "neutral"?

Hey all. Going thru my first jet boat before I take it out for my maiden voyage. It has a Berkeley 12JG with a place diverter. Im currently replacing the diverter cable and shift cable. I understand there is no true neutral position, just a combo of forward and reverse thrust. Since I havent even been on the water with it yet, Im wondering if you have any pointers or pics showing what your reverse gate/bucket looks like when you have it in neutral. I guess im trying to eyeball it per se, so I can at least get in the ball park of what the bucket would look like in neutral. I can then fine tune it once on the water. Just wanted to be sure it doesnt run up the back of my truck when I start it!

Neutral depends on your boat and adjustment on the bucket

I understand. I guess I should just pick a point to start with and see what happens. Was kind of curious if maybe I should start with like a fingers-width gap away from full reverse.

If you’re trying to create an automatic neutral position with a jet I would suggest don’t.  Fly by the seat of your pants.

I would just make sure that when your in forward position, the bucket is all the way up. Other than that, I would just eyeball it.

Focus more on ensuring that the reverse bucket moves completely out of the jet stream when in the forward (up) position.  If the bucket partially covers the, at the very least, will try to force the nozzle up (more roost).  This will bind up the operation of the diverter.  It could blow the bucket off or even the whole nozzle.  When the whole nozzle blows off, it flops around on the control cables and beats the hell out of the transom.

My secondary concern would be full reverse; but not at the expense of full forward.  Let neutral fall where it may.

You will probably need to modulate between forward and reverse to maintain a stationary position.  A jet will never act like a proo boat when in neutral.
