Pump malfunction

So the gasket on my pump pushed out between the wedge, bowl, and droop after fixing the messed up threads from the bolts that were in it. Now I'm putting it all back together and should I use gaskets again like were in it before or what should I use to prevent this from happening again any advice on this would be very helpful thanks in advance

First you wanna buy 2 tubes of clear silicone,, make sure to put the entire first tube on both sides of the wedge, making sure most of the run off from tightening ends up in the droop...then the second tube u apply very liberally to the outside of the wedge making sure to make a smooth transfer from the droop to the bowl, completely encasing the wedge in an impenetrable blanket of said silicone, after this is done, wrap the effected area with duct tape to make sure the silicone retains its shape...and she's good to go!!! ..sent from your friendly local v-drive owner!!! As I started reading this I was thinking "isn't this our resident v-drive guy".   :thumbup:

If you had thread issues that are now repaired, use a gasket with a "light" coat of sealant and tighten evenly.

If you know someone that has or works in a machine shop,  have an o-ring groove cut into every other surface.

Otherwise, no gaskets,  just make sure all the surfaces are stupid clean and flat and use a tiny amount of Permatex #2.

JMO.

The only time a gasket is needed is when the parts don't fit well.

Funny thing is, my buddy has a silver Sanger flat called "Duct Tape". I think it's in their blood, n which die hard vee drive guys, is gear oil with small metal particles.
