Hey Guys,
I have a buddy in the market for a droop for his 21' Lavey BBC manual place (JG) and as I am running a JC and am therefore split bowl deficient I was wondering if you guys could make some recommendations. I know there are several manufacturers as well as several angles available. He is just looking to squeeze out any available performance from of his boat.
On a side note, for some reason I thought I remembered hearing about people converting JC's to split bowl configuration due to their higher flow rate. Would this be something that is worth while or am I trippin and it's not something that even exists? Easier to just find a second hand JG?
Thanks

Finding another bowl, on one hand, will simply swap out.
Yet on the other hand, will need to be measured for proper clearance.

But then you will be all out of hands..... How can you do anything with bowls on your hands?

The increased flow rate of a JC bowl is a myth. If you really are looking to get every little delicious drop of performance out of a Berkeley, keep your balls peeled for an Agressor 9 vane. when these are cleaned up and set up correctly, they are superior as far as flow in my opinion.
Oh yeah... yes, I have had a couple of frosty adult beverages... Thanks for asking.

I have 2... one on the boat and the other on the shelf. (9 vane aggressor) I had a modified split c bowl and ran it with a straight snoot (4 degree pin). My pump has a preloader and stuffer but just a rock grate. Switched to a 9 and its out of the hole faster but the best investment along with all the rest was the bolt on shoe/rideplate.

Is the aggressor going to require an intake swap as well? Also any pics of the bolt on ride plate set up?

I will post up pics later. The older aggressor is bout same circumference but bout 2" longer an bolts right up to berk intake. Just need to take measurements before install to allow for enough clearence or stuffer. Htp or ars marine both sell the bolt on shoe/plate btw.

Shoe/rideplate bolt on pics... I added the right angle to the plate to be solid and had parts polished and powder coated clear,blue/wht. Its set at 3 up from keel with biting edge at keel. Used epoxy to set and smooth out shoe. I have the step by step directions to install... fairly easy if you have experience with a drill and tap. My boat is not a super fast boat by any means(70mph) but the ride plate helped out with overall performance at cruising to wot. For what its worth great add on deal without removing intake.
