Title: Good place in socal to rebuild jet pump
Post by: TrailerHo on May 28, 2010, 01:34:09 PM
I'm located in victorville and am looking for a reliable shop (or person) to rebuild my pump.  i have a berk JC and it needs a new everything.  impeller included.  i can remove the pump if need be but if I can just take the boat somewhere, that works too.   And if you happen to be someone that can do this, send me a $$$ and we can go from there.

I have had some work done by GS Marine in Corona and they did a great job.

For what purpose and how fast. I always recommend Jack McClure @ MPD (949)631-2040 Builds the fastest pumps on the book ( just look at the records) Second pick Greg Shoemaker GS Marine (951)272-6060 for race pumps and stock rebuilds. Third pick all of the above.

i called GS marine and they want an arm and a leg to get it done.  it's my understanding that they don't do just rebuilds.. they also do the blueprinting included with the rebuild and that's the reason it's so much.
from my understanding, the guy i bought the boat from a couple of years ago said the pump was already blueprinted so I don't need it again.  But the difference from what is said and what is actually done is still to be seen..
So i'm back in the hunt again for a shop to do it.  i am looking to bring the boat to the shop so that i can be sure it's done right, not too sure as to what i am doing when it comes to this...
thanks for the help...  (And if it's beer you need as payment.....  i got kegs for ya!!  ;D)

Still the best recommendation Jack Mclure at MPD Costa Mesa, a rebuild is going to entail some socalled blueprinting, impeller, clearances ect. but it's not cheap, you want to play, you gotta pay!

If I was to bring them the boat , it was going to be around 1100 and then another 325 on top of that if I needed a new impeller..  <--Which I do.

Don't know your budget but if you are sure you need a new impellor then your blueprint job from before is toast.  It's like replacing a crank from out of a box in a blueprinted motor, it's not blueprinted anymore.  Again it depends what you want to do with the boat. if it's something to use to get a tan do it your self.  If you want it to perform well you have to pay the piper. Call Jack and spend the money$

Didn't realize that.. Thanks! I guess I will need to get all that done then.  I will give Jack a call.  Thanks again.

I am also looking into getting my pump rebuilt. keep me posted on where you end up going and how much.

another question: do you need the motor in the boat to have the pump rebuilt properly?
(i have my motor pulled right now).

You can do what I did.  Take a vacation to SLO.   Take the boat to Tom @ JBP and then go camping at the beach or one of several lakes.  In a few days pick it up, exchange beer, $ and handshakes, then return to campsite to boat for a few days on 2 of the best lakes in Cali.

Or you could drive to Pacoima or Pomona and maybe get shot.
