Title: have 2 complete pumps which 2 use?
Post by: 65BEAVER on August 26, 2010, 05:28:56 PM
I have a 12ja-a and a 12ja-b complete. I'll just be using the suction housing. Everything else will be new. I had one sand blasted allready but need to make sure thats the one that needs to get powder coated. Thanks

Same same............The only difference between the two pumps are the impellers....Which sounds like will be replaced. ;)

re the "12j "A" the true "A" pump is an early precursor to the C's and G's and uses a different pump shaft and also has no real bearing seal although many parts interchange the shafts are indeed the biggest difference , if you wish to use a new shaft it would have to be a modern replacement which will be a different overall length, call if you need help Tom

Thanks guys, Tom I will be ordering the parts from you soon. I'll be dynoing the engine in about 4 weeks. Is there anything that needs to be done to the suction housing that can't be done after powder coating it?

I'm prejudice here because I hate "repowder coated" pumps and pump parts to assemble , please do your self a favor and make sure your P'coater knows how to precision mask and find out what temp he cooks at ! I would always opt out of powder coating for epoxy enamel given the opportunity let me know how I can help Tom
