Quality lithium fortified grease, but the seal if it has a carbon face cannot be contacted by petroleum products. You must use soap or mineral oil... Only...

What do you mean carbon face.  Is the white seal it??

The black pay that touches the white part.. The white is ceramic.  The charcoal colored part is carbon. ..

Pretty much.

Things you can use for a carbon face seal.

Dishwashing liquid (Pamolive, Dawn, generic),

Astroglide (lol),

Vacuum pump oil, baby oil, vegetable oil,

Silicone lube,

Wire pulling lube,

Does water leak out of the hole on the other side when the engine is off?

Oh ok. Mine is leaking water and spiting grease out the same hole yours is. I just figured because the water was pushing the grease out. I'm pulling mine this week and putting new seals in it again. I think I got something wrong or put grease on something I shouldn't have.
