My friend has a Charger jet boat we fixed up a bit this off season, dos the wiring and cleaned her up a bit.
The problem is he's being really weird about replacing this steering cable. Help me talk sense into him, we told him this has to be replaced. It's pretty bad the outside cover is cracked the metal strands inside are all rusty and some have broken, it's incredibly hard to steer but he says that's just because he needs to drop it in the water and it will get all better.
Please help!

Don't think about you killing just yourself, think about the people you put at risk.
Does this cat work for Flint water?

A new one is less the 200.00.

70 bucks to have steering seems like a no brainier to me but what the hell do I know. Run it if you got to but let us know where you boat for our safety.

I try not to be judgemental. But, you're friend is an idiot. And irresponsible. Things can happen real quick on the river.
It might be fine and nothing may happen. But I wouldn't trust it.
If money is an issue call some reputable shops and see if they have a used one. Look on craigslist. Start a Go-Fund Me.
Instead of charging for gas, take advancements from your friends for rides. Just replace it.

I offered him the steering cable out of my old boat for free and it's in great shape. What will probably happen is my friend and I will do it for him since they are both stored at his house. I just find it ridiculous because he says it's fine.

I busted the inside through the outer layer where the bend is on mine steering wheel would turn but the cable would just come outta the housing worst feeling ever at 45mph on Parker strip cruising with out her boats around hard to limp it to shore and use my thinking cap to patch it up but did get it going. Deff not worth it at all I had to drift till I turned and then floor it for the shore/rocks just to get off the river. I did full rack and cable for like 150$ and 1hr of my time and a few beers.

Your friend is an idiot and is likely to kill or seriously hurt people by running that jenky-ass cable.

X2 Jordan.
And like Jim said, $70-100 is cheap insurance.
I wouldn't put that on my worst enemies boat

Cut it in half so he has no choice but to change it! 😎

And tell him when he installs a new one not to do it upside down. Because it will turn the oposite direction lol. Been there haha

Just paint it black. And dont take it to Parker April 8 9 or 10.... seriously though, that is an easy way to have a really bad day on the water.
