Title: help noobie with rock in impeller lol.
Post by: msrn702 on October 14, 2011, 04:50:03 PM
Hey fella's I got a rock jammed in my impellar last weekend at laughlin and now I need to get it out. It's in there pretty good so what would be the best way to get at it? I was thinking to take of the grate but wanted to ask first sine I'm new to this and haven't done it before. It's a Berkeley jet. Thanks.

Pull the grate.  The rock might not even be lodged in tight.

I had to pull my grate last weekend at Laughlin because of rocks (no big deal).

Don't worry about loc-tite, not necessary.

I've had several that could be "wiggled out" (hellofa vibration B4 removal)

Thanks guys! I was going to follow everyone out on the run Saturday but when I got on the throttle it had a real bad vibration so I put it o the trailer to look and sure enough.

Brad was there right? He's pretty damn resourceful in getting those stubborn bastards out!  He helped me many times, (I think I did it like 4 times the same weekend) and I remember him and I flipping over a wetbike and spending a half an hour getting a rock out of one of those on a beach once............ :screwy:

We picked up a rock last weekend also.  Had to pull it up on the beach Saturday evening when everyone was leaving.

i helped msrn702 get a rock out of his reverse bucket.....wedged the damn thing shut pretty good....but we all went for a run and he was back on the trailer and gone before i came back.

when i was little, i was the one to always have to get in there and pull whatever out of my dads pump. i've seen it all....plastic bags, ski ropes, rocks, drift wood, weeds, etc....

i remember someone here saying they pulled a girls thong out from being wrapped around their pump shaft once.  :screwy:

Ya I thought I was out of my element a little bit. Shallow water, almost washing up on a rock bar and getting rocks in impeller and bucket in the first 5 minutes of my river career so I just thought I'd minimize the damage and call it a day lol. But got the rock out and headed out to lake mead (echo bay) tomorrow if anybody is up for it?
