Title: How to access driveshaft bolts??
Post by: Ckaz21 on February 14, 2014, 07:45:12 PM
Hey guys I'm removing my engine tomorrow. Can't figure out how to access the drive shaft bolts so that I can disconnect it before I pull the engine. Here's a pic. Thanks!

Remove two Allen bolts on either side of the bell housing that sits on the jet.
This will release the lower bracket that holds the bell housing in place.
Then raise the engine slightly and push the engine forward, towards the bow. The drive shaft is a slip fit on the splines of the jet shaft.

There's no need to disconnect the driveshaft prior to engine removal.

Hope this helps

Ok got it. Now is that the same procedure for installing the engine?

While its out, have the drive rebuilt. Might do a pump freshen up as well.

Ya driveshafts are u joit set ups so jack the block up just enough so the engine is free swinging ang slide forward until it's off the jet drive shaft, and everytime I ever put the motor back in, you do exact opposite, lower it down to close to where it mounts, then slide driveshaft onto the jet drive splines, then bolt motor back up..... An engine sling is a def plus
