Putting another pump together tomorrow, I've always had help in the past. How do you measure and what clearances should you have between impeller and wear ring, and impeller and stuffer? Also the front side of the impeller/ wear ring area?
Not sure I'm describing that right but I know you can shim it right there. Any help is appreciated guys, thanks!

Caliper for the wear ring. I have multiples of three feeler gauges for doing Labrynth seals on chillers, works great.
As for the stuffer, clearance putty and a caliper.

Thanks GT! How do you measure to know if you need shims to space the impeller out on the shaft?

Shouldered ring?

I believe it is, I'll check tomorrow when it's in front of me, this impeller has been used in this suction with existing wear ring. It was all set up by a friend at one point. But now being reassembled with a differant shaft. Can't remember if it had shims before it was taken apart about a year ago.

Not all shafts are machined the same. Don't assume 1 shaft is identical to the other. This might start an argument ;) but for lake boats I use .025 for everything (side, front, and rear)

Yes sir! She should be dialed and ready for action. Although I have to start tuning all over again since I moved the engine back forward and ride plate back up a bit

I've actually seen that firsthand. I had one shaft that went together no problem, and another that was an AQ that required milling at the end that sits in the bowl, it bottomed out and you couldn't even bolt the bowl on all the way. Wound up fixing that and setting everything up at .022" clearance. Had to shim the impeller out a bit but now it has proper clearance on both ends

i didnt have the time or ability to measure for runout on mine. So its set at a loose .030

I can still set the bitch on the rev limiter as long as i want to if i flat foot it from idle lol
