Title: how to remove bowl on my 12WJ jacuzzi pump
Post by: srkasten on June 04, 2018, 05:23:34 PM
I need help before I break something trying to remove bowl from suction housing. I want to powder coat the external parts on the pump. I have removed transom adapter, steering housing, deflector and reverse gate. Now I need to remove bowl. Pump is still in boat, I did not want to remove it if possible. I see eight bolts holding bowl to section section. I see there is a bowl bearing (bushing) at rear of bowl. Can I remove this bearing (1" hex) and then 8 bolts and will bowl then pull off leaving impeller shaft and impeller in suction housing. Is the bowl bearing right hand thread? Seems to be tighter then the Virgin Mary. I know this is an expensive piece so i don't want to break it. Should I heat the vane area of the bowl and then use my 1" socket and big breaker bar. I hate using that word breaker.

Just remove the bolts at the suction housing, and pull the bowl off. Rear bearing stays with the bowl. Shaft and impeller stay with the suction housing.

Removing that rear single bolt will do nothing to separate bowl. Those 8 bolts on the inside gotta be removed to separate the bowl. There might be silicone holding it together.

Thanks guys for such a quick response. This just seems to easy. I though maybe the bowl bearing was threaded onto the impeller shaft but of course that would make no sense. Anyway I will get to this task later today. Glad it will be easy.
