Just a question here, I have some baffles that dont look like that (see pic) .  Are the ones that CP Performance showed better (more flow) than what I have ?

Ohhhhhhhh yeah ! The corkscrew type are very restrictive . The type that CP and most have is a straight through design with the louvered baffle . I"ve been told that there is no RPM or HP loss with the louvered muffs .

GJ, Castaic is my stomping grounds and absolutely do they shit a brick. If the police car/boat is sitting around the ramp at the time you'll get a ticket too... Especially if you don't have water injection.

Rent-a-Cop or real cop?  That sucks.

He was writing tickets so I asume he was a real cop. The people on the roll bar boat at the dock were getting written up for underage drinking by his partner!

They're real cops. And get this, Lifeguards at Castaic can arrest you and hold you in custody until the real police arrive.

I was always under the impression that , for instance , a lake like silverwood where there arent house for miles , noise isnt that big of an issue . I've seen several boats all my life launch there and it seems like nobody gives a rats ass . On the other hand , Elsinore , Puddingstone and lakes that are surrounded by homes and the the heat is on your ass faster than you can imagine .

Hey Neighbor ;D  Do you have any idea what those tickets are running? and have you seen them with the DB meter or are they exercising their "profound" judgement?

I would go to court and have the officers "Calibrated Ear" brought in as a witness! ;D No Meter, No ticket! Unless they have a "muffler law" and you dont have them in!

Peace Officers have a certain "command call" "autonomy' to guess or estimate and have it "stand up" in court from what I understand as much as I'd love to protest/contest one ,I'm not sure I'd prevail (and I have a calibrated DB meter) Boats like ours are allowed around 86 to 89 db heres Rhondas 02' f150 with 2 stage flow master for comparison, 2nd pic is a Led Zep rift at 1/2 volume

Several of the race tracks we use to run had limits of 95db @ 100' and we would get harrassed because the Quad4 was too loud.

Here's the rule on noise, straight from the California Dept. Of Boating & Waterways;

MUFFLING SYSTEMS
Any motorboat operated on the inland waters of this state, or coastal waters
up to one mile from shore, must be muffled or otherwise prevented from
exceeding the following noise levels when measured by the Stationary Sound
Level Measurement Procedure for Pleasure Motorboats (SAE J2005):
90 dB (A) for engines manufactured before January 1, 1993.
88 dB (A) for engines manufactured on or after January 1, 1993.
All motorboat noises levels must be below 75 dB (A) when measured by the
Shoreline Sound Level Measurement Procedure (SAE J1970).
Authorities generally agree that unbaffled exhaust pipes (stacks) do not meet
any of the above noise level requirements.

So if you have mufflers in and they dont have a Decible meter their "calibrated ear" isnt sufficiant to start righting tickets that stand up in court.

Its the kind of ticket they just want you to pay and then go away.
