Title: Impeller size
Post by: Cbecks93 on September 15, 2015, 09:49:42 AM
I currently have an 18' v hull jet boat with a fresh 460 turning 401 hp and 492 ft/lbs of torque at 4800rpm and a Berkeley jg pump. This winter I will be rebuilding the pump and wanted to know what is the best impeller for me to put in with the engine I have.

What RPM are you at now?

What Impeller is in it now?

Sounds like an 'A' will be your best bet.

I'd go with the A-A.  Looks like a perfect fit, as long as your engine's torque curve will allow you to pull through the lower RPM's to get to 4800 RPM.  It should, since it sounds like it's not too radical in the camshaft department.

Would it make a difference in impeller size if I were to add a loader?

Not really, a loader might pull ~200 rpm off any impeller size, maybe more- maybe less

Currently there is an A aluminum impeller in the pump. What would the advantages and dis advantages be to using a stainless impeller
