Bowl end cap. WTF

I cant get it off. Is it reversed threads or something. Berkeley 12 JB

What am i doing wrong?

This is going to be a pain in the, well you know. Hey check out my new speed cable. Must be something new

Hillbilly's must of had this boat, i swear.

This is a project just making it a project.

Trying to get the pump apart. I am following the diagrahm. Does it not come off?

yes it does come off. Counter clockwise. I used a piece of flat steel pounded into the slot and then I took a cresent wrench to it.

This pump has not been used for nine years and i have tried everything to get it off, Wont budge.

What about heating it up with a torch

You have some cleaning to do! WTF is up with all the hoseclamps on the cable? Umm maybe a HUGE flathead made for a 1/2" or 3/4" breaker bar, maybe one at Napa

Ya i know its a mess. It sat for the last nine years unattended

The hose clamps? I dont fuggin know, It was in a wire loom and then wrapped up in duct tape. Thats not the half of it. They also drilled a hole in the transom to shove the new hi perf cable through

. Dont know why.

I do have the 1/2 " drive flat head socket but it just slips off.

I used a piece of stainless flat bar that fits the slot. Put a 16" Crescent wrench, put some pressure CCW, and tap the end of the flatbar with a hammer. That "shocks" it into coming loose. Easier to do before you take the bowl off the pump, or out of the boat.

Well i cant get it off so the guy at our marine shop said just run it. I will replace the bearing and gaskets though

2 savage don't laugh, worse case scenario .. put the bowl down on the concrete between your knees use a cold chisel and large ballpeen (safety glasses too) strike the nut at the left corner to "worry it off" ,call me i'll explain Tom
