Any local shops fix these? Havasu? How do these fins effect the pump function?
Thanks!
-
I fixed one like that with sea goin and epoxy putty. Haven't tried it yet so I don't know if it's gonna hold up yet, if not out comes the motor, pump, and get it welded :-\
-
Take a grinder to it and just sharpen it back up .

Yea, I did the grinder thing and actually don't notice a difference in perfomance but since I'm runnin a 950 HP deal I want to get all I can out of it.

Otherwise it's gonna have to come out . It's not open heart surgery , but a little tougherthan a hang nail .

With that many ponies I'd also suggest letting a pro reset the intake .

Yea, I was hoping to weld a peice on to finish the summer, then take it to MPD. Jack did the original work and I need it to load just a little quicker now with the new motor.

Don't weld on it while it's still installed!!!!!!!!! :screwy: That will screw up the seal!!! That epoxy doesn't take the heat to well, plus the expansion rate of the aluminum will cause it to start to separate from the hull. :banghead:
If you're that concerned about fixing the fin, take the intake out and do it right the first time!!! If you're good, it could be a one or two week job. If you're me, it will turn into a 7 month job. :banghead: :banghead: Of course I didn't have all my parts to form a running boat when I pulled the intake out, after discovering the seal was bad, after I had most of the major components installed in the boat. :banghead:
Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna just run it for the summer then!

Was flipping through some old papers and found that you could buy the intake fins for the 12JE and 12JF's that bolted through the hull, maybe you could adapt?
They were part #0203-B-06920 From Berkeley, maybe someone has some NOS they want to get rid of.

I SAW YOUR BOAT AT THE AVI LOOKS AND SOUNDS BITCHIN. YOU WERE FLOATING DOWN RIVER ON SUNDAY BY YOURSELF GAVE A WAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU WERE ALRIGHT. LOOKS LIKE YOU WERE WAITING TO PICK SOMEONE OFF ANY CHALLENGERS THAT DAY?
-
Thanks for the fin #'s, will pull the pump after this season.
THANKS FOR THE WAVE AND KIND WORDS, SUNDAY WAS DEAD BUT I'M OUT EVERY WEEKEND.
Got a new toy, V-drives are bitchen!

Just FYI..... so far my sea goin epoxy fix has been holding up ;)

-
Good to know, Thanks Tony. If your out on weekends send me a photo of your boat and I'll stop in.
Hey Brad, I remembrer seeing photos of a dead duck in your boat, Did it actually break something?

no, that was ralph's boat....he went through a flock of them at ming durring a race....hit one right on the front off the bow....it cartwheel'd accross his bow and pegged him in the chest.
allegidly another driver was blaming a broken intake and ride plate on these same ducks ::)
trust me, i know what it takes to break a intake setup. :-\

He CLAIMED to have a broken intake and a bent impeller shaft from a duck.

No, just a cracked shoe. I checked it before the race, during, and after..... still not sure if it was a duck or not, but it was something :-\

So, you sucked a duck? thats some funny $hit!
