People have always typed good things about it . I was always told not to run it . For me the deciding factor was protection against the housing . A bronze wear ring saved my last one where as an "Ultimate wear ring probably wouldn't have .

Also think about the water you run in . I usually run at the river where there is a ton of sediment floating in the water . I think that would kill a UWR pretty quik . My .02

I'm on my second UWR. The first one was damaged when my thrust bearing went out.

One bad thing about them is that small rocky debris can embed itself into the wear ring material and cause damage to the impeller. When I removed my last UWR, I found several little pebbles embedded and nasty grooves worn into the impeller wear ring surface. No more shallow water motoring for me!!!

That's hard to say. I installed the rebuilt pump with the blower motor into a new to me hull all at once. I did notice a difference when I replaced the wear ring after I tore up the first one though. I couldn't even get the damn thing out of the hole before. The pump would just spin out. Now I can damn near flat foot it with no cav problems.
