Title: Is it...
Post by: OC2Vegas on July 08, 2007, 09:49:54 PM
Is it possible( I am sure it is) to remove a jacuzzi wj and replace with a Berk. and what type of undertaking.

Reasoning: Energizer kit is $$$$ Or buy a Berk, refresh and save some $$$

Suggestions...

The WJ isnt that bad of a pump . It's a mix flow pump just like a berkley . Have it freshened up right and it should haul the mail .

Otherwise , other than the energizer kit . The entire pump from intake to nozzle gets shit canned . Now your into fiberglassing and an entire new pump when you could have gotten rid of the ride and picked one up with a berk in it for the same if not cheaper .

Freshen it up and see what happens .

Lets say that Boat A and Boat B are identical in every way, motor, weight, blah blah. Except for the pumps. In the same water conditions, temp, etc what are the difference in accel, top speed, etc

I raced (for fun w/o seriousness) a Berkeley driven boat with my Jacuzzi driven boat and won. Both pumps probably never been touched since new ( about 30 years old). Berkeley driven boat had much more engine than mine. Jacuzzi's are good only up to 500 HP I heard.  ??? Ralph is currently "into" a Jacuzzi WJ, his WJ was tired and he just had it rebuilt, and he added a Place Diverter to it - no news as of yet...

You, me, and Ralph should know soon. Wait for Ralph to figure how his changes worked for him.

the cut out on the bottom of the boat with a WJ is smaller than a Berk, so no glass work :o just cut it bigger.
