I just bought a Spectra with a WJ Jacuzzi, its my first Jac, all others have been Berks... Does anybody have a service manual for this thing that they are willing to share?

Jacuzzi is now owned by North American Marine Jet company.

I have a question about these pumps. On the WJ diagram item number 40 is called a high flow nozzle plub. It goes on the end of the rear bearing and extends to the outlet nozzle. What purpose does this serve and what effect might it have if one was not on the pump?

I remember reading on HB (2004 or 05) it was used to keep nozzle pressure(thrust)up
similar to a ftn nozzle for a berk. More thrust = more speed.
It may have helped keep sand out of the rear bowl bushing.

On Jacuzzi's the "nozzle" is actually engineered into the exit on the bowls and the OEM steering is simply a deflector to direct water flow , when we install a Place diverter (which is an actual nozzle) we remove that portion of the Jacuzzi bowl altogether Tom

Tom, do you have a pic of a bowl that has been cut? I have an older style Place Diverter on my WJ and I'm pretty sure that my bowl has not been modified.

i dont think you want to cut your nozzle with the use of an old model PD. i would think water would leak out the steering pivot point when turning. see the illustration below. the red shows the stock diameter and flow direction, the blue shows the larger cut diameter and flow direction. my drawing doesn't lie :D

with the new PD model it channels the flow through the nozzle. see yellow lines below.

As 75 suggests the really old original Diverters for WJ will leak worse than they already did if you modify the Bowl by completely removing the cone , however the late style that PD redesigned the Nozzle hsg for can take advantage of the partial or near total removal of that cone I'll dig around today for a Pic for ya Tom
This is the only Dub j pic I could find for now , when you use the late diverter or our Berk accesory adaptor we mill most of the cone off down to the Oring groove area

So when you mill off the original nozzle do you also remove the plub? Is the PD nozzle the same size as the original one? What happens when the nozzle is left alone and a later place diverter is used? Effectivley having two nozzles?

When you mill the entire bowl flat it makes it a bitch to seal due to insufficiant sealing area leaving the leaving the oring area intact and yes if you leave it completly on #1 the Place wont completley bolt up and #2 like you siad your "necking" the water twice Tom
