I think I know the answer to this question, and I'm not feeling warm and fuzzy about it, but without the boat here to verify (It'll be back here tonight or tomorrow morning), what are the odds I can simply drop a Jacuzzi WJ on the YJ intake?? :sly:

Thats what I thought. Maybe I'll get lucky and my memory is wrong on my Charger and it's a WJ on there....... Haven't seen the boat in a year, but my bud called me yesterday from the lake and informed me that the pump "sounds like a coffee can full of rocks"....... :banghead: Anyway, I have a good WJ sitting here. I guess I'll find out soon enough when they bring it down.........THIS, I could have done without.....

Nope. The Mariachi Band took it apart. just told him might as well keep going and get the bowl off so we know what we're in for.........I'm thinking set back Berk conversion is not too far away....... :banghead:
Might as well keep going, dump the Olds and drop a 460 in it too, why the hell not?

Ray, i'm not trying to be an ass, but, why waste the time and money when you know as well as i do you will be money ahead to either rebuild the yj or get another hull.

Oh yeah, gonna look at it first, might not be as bad as I'm being told........at the same time, I've got a perfectly good JC, intakes, and what not to do it just sitting here as well........ ;)

Ray, thats one of those Golden Eagle versions of the YJ. There is no intake, its one of those insert style things. Check Toms site, he has a diagram of them http://www.jetboatperformance.com/index.php?p=jacuzzigoldeneagle (http://www.jetboatperformance.com/index.php?p=jacuzzigoldeneagle) .
Its been a loooong time sense I had to mess with a YJ, but if I remember right you cant just pull the bowl. You have to pull the shaft, impeller, wear ring, bowl out of the suction as a unit. The impeller is actually in the bowl and the wear ring is pressed into the bowl in front of it. Or something like that. Call Tom . ;)
I do remember one thing, DONT LOOSE OR MIX UP THOSE SHIMS THAT ARE BEHIND THE FRONT BEARING COVER/CARRIER !! Thats how you shim the impeller to set its clearance to the wear ring.
Its probably just full of rocks, stick your hand up in there and wiggle them out. ::)

That's what I'm hoping for Jeff is rocks.......and told I them that......but sometimes telling a mexican how to stick their hand blindly in a hole and what to feel for........well, the conversation doesn't usually go well after that!
Yes, it says "golden eagle" right on it I guess. Apparently nothing golden about it. As I look at it more, it really resembles my JE pump and.....well.....Mark has a JE pump........ ;)
We'll see. Women got involved so now it'll be Sunday before I get a look at it (so THEY can get together and gossip about the bad shit we do).........

Ray the Jacuzzi G/E has the unique feature of having the suction designed differnetly than its YJ sibling if you remove the bearing cap and the large snap ring theat surrounds the bearing the entire shaft assembly can be extricated from the rear (after bowl removall) the jet is very easy to service in the boat and when working propperly will give decent service . Jeff is correct re the shims , there positioning is what determines the proximity of the wear ring to the impeller (clearance) call or PM if you need help Tom

Score one, well, actually, more than a dozen!, But thank you 75Fantasy for finding the smoking freaking deal of the century pump! Thanks to Tom JBP for telling me exactly what I was gonna run into, and did, Ralph, Proppy, the rest. This all actually worked out tits and just over a grand!
New Energized Jacuzzi YJ "Golden Eagle" pump installed complete with Place Diverter, 1 header installed, the other has serious issues hopefully we can get taken care of tomorrow, new cables, helm, plumbing (Flytime, you're NOT gonna beleive how those logs were plumbed......could be the root of all that was evil in the world), alternator,
Took awhile, but as most of you know, I sold the boat to a friend with contingincies and wasn't leaving my money out there to hang again.
But it's in, cool as hell, rerouted cables O/T, a lot of other little things that I did not realize about the boat until Serg told me the issues he was having.
