What can I expect from a stuffer plate? Boat has a JE-A pump with trim a just. My boat is big, and heavy, and tends to cavitate when launching, or pulling up skiiers. From what I have read, a stuffer plate is most helpfull for improving holeshot, so it seems like it may be something that could help my boat out. The pump has not had a wear ring or impeller  replaced for many hours, but is in good shape otherwise...No front or rear shaft leaks, and all the nylon bushings are tight. I don't plan on doing a full re-build for this season, and don't have a good reason to take the pump apart unless I can gain something with a stuffer.

Any time you can improve the transition from moving to stationary (intake vs. impeller vs. stator) the pump gets more effective. This will almost always improve out of the hole performance.

That being said, it would be sill to pull the bowl off and not verify wear ring to impeller clearances. It is literally a 30 minute job once the bowl is removed...

Just my opinion, but a tight wear ring clearance can do way more for the Ass-O-Nometer feel for more performance than any bolt on...It's all for not without a properly set up pump...
