Thanks Bro appreciate the words ,yes I was real bummed outOil in the bowl is not a big problem, seal leaked or possible that it came out due to shaft travel . If want the pump done to race spec then contact place Diverter and controls and talk to Tim place . He once had the fastest jet boat in the world and knows how to build pumps . He has a bad ass pump ready to go . I posted here in SoCal Jetboat . Call him and maybe he will give u a deal for it .,pulled the droop snoot found gear oil in the bottom of the bowl in the vanes weird, seal? I always left the pump stuff to the pros ,George has always been good with everything, just getting frustrated 2 motors and a pump in one year

Getting ready for the burley Idaho race was checking my pump out ,the input shaft seemed to move back and fourth about a 1/2 inch and it spins pretty freely the impeller sounds like a tin can noise, talked to George at ars marine he built the pump said it might sound like the thrust bearing , pumps only 3 yrs old after a 3000 dollar rebuild real bummed , last year blew 2 motors one my brand new stroker motor broke in the first 20 minutes had a roller lifter fail ,brand new everything , took out the block and camshaft and then scrambled to get my back up motor fixed that had a blown head gasket then after the swaps lasted until late August then blew another head gasket now I get to pull the pump and send it back to George this really sucks , but I'm not quitting!! 😠
I'd pull it apart and see what's going on. Several places have an impeller puller. Hopefully the wear ring isn't welded to the impeller. And the wear ring didn't take out the suction housing. Sounds like the bearing slid up on the shaft?

Thanks guys , got the pump pulled today sending it to George at ARS, he built it before , hoping the housing is not messed up this would be my 3rd in 4yrs last housing cracked because of a broken piece of metal from a bad assembly line loader scoop , so we'll see ,appreciate the help , George has always been good to me ,parts fail I understand plus I'm hard on my equipment I'm always checking everything but shit happens if the new motor fires up and works out I should be ready to rock and roll for the June race

Well got the news from George at ARS guess the thrust bearing failed , got lucky and the housing is not cracked , he asked me what kind of grease I was using on the thrust bearing , I use Lucas oil grease , does it make a difference? I always greased it before and after I ran the boat always changed the oil too, hope I get the pump back soon hope all you out there are doing all right the world's kinda crazy this virus shit sucksUse black moly lube on it . And brake it in a little no hard passes for about 15mins then put a couple of squirts in at idle and the go for it

thanks for the info , so black moly lube any specific brand ? do you recommend a good gear oil, been using Lucas oil brand, as for letting water up to the bearing, when in the pits its only getting water from the pump , in the river it sits for about 15 minutes before I start and run it, are the thrust bearings pretty much the same in dominator pumps the same in berkely pumps? was this a bearing fail on my part, or a cheap bearing ? or it just failed, the pump isBearings are all the same in berk and Dom , it’s the manufacturer’s that are different. Nsk , zpl, timkins. Just have to get the better one nsk is what I would use . As for the molly lube , Lucas makes it . U want one with high grafite . Hope u get ur pump back soon . Just make sure that when u get it back get the parts list and see what bearing went into it . Check the bearing and make sure it’s been pre greased . If u have any questions pls pm me and I will give u my cell number an we can talk .
