Title: knocking noise from pump ?

soooo i put boat in water left it on trailer and when put under load there is a horrible knocking noise coming from the jet pump..its a panther? i kno i kno already its a panther ur gonna say but does anyone hav a clue on wat the noise is ? if so how to fix it?

I would do a visual to see if you have debris in the pump. I had rocks I'm my jacuzzi and it sounded like what you're describing, less the under load part. If no rocks maybe bearings??

Did a visual no rocks...yea its on only wen in gear and give it sum gas it sounds horrible i thought it was my engine bottom end at first.

I had a knocking noise one time took the pump apart and the skirt of the impeller that rides on the wear ring had cracked a broke pieces where missing . It was an aluminum impeller . Good look with this.

Exactly. Grease the u joints. Mite help. And grease you thrust bearing.

Grease won't fix anything, but it could narrow down where the noise is coming from.

It sounds to me like the forward thrust bearing is toast...

Did you change out the U-joints when you had it all apart? That will be the easiest to repair, but the joints aren't what i call cheap...

Wish I had some extra time, I would cruise up there and throw an ear on it for you.

aw dam gt i wish u did too...i fixed my carb problem gonna go back out tomorrow to berryessa and try to narrow it down.

Replace the u-joint.  Make sure u get the correct one.  Don't go to GT BOATS in Cordelia.  EVER.  They gave me the wrong one few years ago.   

Good luck if you ever have to get ahold of Panther up in Oregon. 

Possible but difficult.
