Rebuild Berk

My Sanger has been down for about 3 years do to the pump not working well. So, the little lady at home just asked me why do I have a boat that we cannot use. I know she said that as a hint to sell her, But I am taking it as a hint to fix her up. Who can sell a boat named Gusher. Now my question is, how hard is it to rebuild a pump. It's out of the boat. And I don't have a ton of cash. I really think it's the wear rings. Last time I had her out when I mashed the pedal RPM's spin up quick and the boat took off slow. like the pump was trying to catch up. Any thoughts? And anyone know a good place to pick up a rebuild kit?

P.S. I am new to this forum. I used to be on hotboat forums but I think that is no longer around as I tried looking for it. Shows how long I have been out. LOL

Either Jim Brock at Cyclone speed And Marine or Tom at Jet Boat Performance. Both are on the boards here.

Welcome to SCJB great to see you get back into it , from what you described sd's like you may have some jet issues as you thought , The basic work is pretty simple and theres tons of info here to help you One thing that may  make the degree of difficulty a little tougher is that Sangers used a unique round transom adaptor that when in its original configuration preclude jet removal like most other boats . The majority require engine movement forward (or engine  removal altogether) to pull the Jet Please feel free to call Josh or myself if we can help you  Tom

The Pump and Engine are already pulled. The thought was to rebuild the BBC with a little more pep. But got side tracked then married.

It's A Custom Sprint Sanger. My buddy and I both think all it needed was a quick rebuild on it. Like I said before when we last had her out I would mash the pedal and the RPM's spooled up fast but the pump wasn't really moving the boat. I tried to tell my buddy that the ole 454 was too much for that pump....he didn't buy that one.

Anything else it could be. I would hate to buy a kit and that not be the problem. the impeller and everything I can see look great. It made no funny noise. just wasn't running nearly as it did before.

just a suggestion if u dont want to get involved with rebuilding a pump from scratch or spending money on labor + parts... theres PLENTY of low hour pumps floating around that you could slap in there to get a running setup while you save up a few pennies to get your original rebuilt.

The simple way now that the jets out and apart is to simply pull it down and inspect it , repair parts are cheap Tom
