I am winterizing my boat for the first time. I drained the engine block, left out a drain plug on each side. I pulled the plug on the bottom rear of each exhaust manifold, and the lower drain plug on each of the snails. I blew out the whole thing with 30 psi for about 5 minutes through the water feed line from the pump. Then I dumped in some RV antifreeze through the water supply from the pump until it ran out of the engine block drains. I also blew back out the water feed from the pump, and blew the pump out through the drain hole in the bowl. I left out all removed plugs. I put fresh 90WT in the bowl. Of course, I washed, waxed, and buffed the whole boat, and took everything out of it. Also ran it with SEAFOAM in the gas for a few trips around the lake. Boat will not run again until at least next April, or even early May! It is stored indoor, in an UN-heated garage, with no history of any mice or anyother animal pests.  Am I forgetting anything that will cause this thing to freeze up, and break anything? Fog the engine with some Marvell Mystery oil or equivalent and stuff rags or towels into the exhaust outlets....Also don't forget to remove the battery and throw it on a tender charger...

I also remove the carburetor and install a lifting plate on the carb hole, but I am a little weird ...

do you really have to do all of that??? i mean can i jst run my motor every so often and ill be good???

You don't "have" to do anything....

And yes, if you have the means to start it every so often, you should be fine, I do not recommend leaving the water in there though...

If you must know the truth, I am used to the engine coming out of the boat every winter, but not for  reasons..It was because the hull went to Oregon and the engine was mine, so they separated every winter and I got used to it...

OK, crazy reason...

Something very few think of though, when the engine is sitting there in the winter, with the exhaust open to atmosphere, the cylinders with the exhaust valves open get all kinds of crap in there, water, dust, insects...Think about it.

best part about having 4" exhaust is that coffee can lids fit PERFECTLY on the holes...

Nice!, never thought of that.  I use old Hot Boat tee shirts....
