Title: leaking gear oil
Post by: 76 Wreidt on February 25, 2009, 08:46:43 AM
Last summer gear oil started leaking out of the nozzle of the jet and the intake under the boat. Has any one had this problem? Is it something i could fix my self at home, i was thinking about taking it to GS marine.

Probably/more than likely a bad bowl seal, I have pulled them apart and gotten 20 feet of fishing line off of them in the past.

Not a huge deal to fix, but the bowl does have to come off, it's a great time to check clearances and give the pump a quick once over IMO....

If GS is too slow or too spendy you might give this guy a call.  He is right off the 210 not far from Glen Helen.   Arrowhead Marine  909.887.8144     He used to have a shop in Berdoo but now works from his home.  He only works on one boat at a time but he was fast and reasonable on $ for me last year.

The Bowl seal is under 10  bucks and simple to replace for a DYI , call and Josh or I will walk you thru it and the respective "things to check"  while partially apart as well   Tom
