Loader grate
« on: July 09, 2012, 03:57:42 PM »
Thinking about installing one in my 1986 21' open bow bahner with a stock 454. Been doing a lot of reading about them and from what I can figure out its eaither gonna hurt my performance or benifit me. The pump is out and being rebuilt right now so I would like to do it now if it's gonna benifit me. The pump is being rebuilt with a A impeller detailed. What do you pros think I should do go for it or not?

Thanks for the help
Mike

Are you having them install a preloader in your pump? Looks like you need some vinegar on those tips....

Ok the SE loader is on the way. What size drill bit do I need to through bolt the loader in for the
5/16-18x1-1/2 bolts?

If you are not going to tap the intake then a 5/16 is what you need. I you are going to tap the intake then your tap will tell you what size to drill. My chart says it would be an F drill.

Mine was stiff when working it back and forth on the trailer.
Once I got it on the water and under power, it was amazing!

Well so much for being a easy install. Damn screw are frozen solid in the rock grate. Gonna have to drill them out to get the loader in  :banghead: wish me luck.

Got the damn thing finally installed after a lot of cussing and drills bit the old ones finally gave in. I though bolted the loader with lock washers and nylocks With 5/16-18 x 11/2 bolts with plenty of clearence from the oil pan.
