Title: Loader installation low down

Tom, the quality of the loader you sent me is very impressive.  My compliments to the welder.
The question I have is what length bolts do I need for installation on the Berkeley 12 JE.

I want everything ready when the diverter gets here next week.   It was snow nice here yesterday....
yea, snow nice.   :banghead:

Should I drill them out to 3/8?   It seems like it's made for 5/16 to me.

Anybody?

5/16 black oxide bolts at least.
Might even go so far as to put a nut on the back.
Make sure you put anti-seize on the bolts before you put them in though so that they'll come out later.

I bought 5/16" X 1 1/2" for mine, using AN washers under the nylon locknuts, if they stick into the bilge too far, I'll cut them down.  Don't forget to sue silicone on the bolts as you put them through and then cap the nut/washer/bolt end with more silicone in the bilge. You'll be fine.

Make sure it's right the first time, I've heard of those things comming off partialy and tossing the boat sideways at a high rate of speed and everybody launched into the drink.

Had a guy come over here with one that was hangin off the bottom tried 1/4-20s on it.

Once you get it installed, don't forget to check to see how it is in relationship to the keel, if it's hanging down more than an 1/8" or so you may need to trim it back a little.

Hi Tom, haven't started that yet.  Just pulled the back off the jet and got it painted today.  I didn't want the diverter to make the bowl look bad.

Do you think I will  have to move the boat back off the trailer a bit to do it?  The back roller is right at the back of the boat.

I haven't pulled the boat in the garage yet to look under there.  I doubt there will be an over abundance of room  ???

Tom, the loader fits like a glove.  I put the old bolts in the front to check fit.  It is within 1/8 inch
of the bottom of the boat.  It's above the bottom, inside the intake.

The place diverter and bowl are painted and installed.  They look like new  :)
I have the pump in and plumbed.  I had to order bolts for the loader so I'm waiting
on them. 
I'm not putting the manifolds on till I get the nuts on the inside of the loader bolts.

  I can't put the battery in to try the diverter till the logs are on, so we're in a holding pattern.

The boat should be ready to get wet sometime next week easily.

We go for the other CV-23 Friday and will be back with it Saturday.

We'll be installing the engine ASAP.   It's going to be a busy week or so.   

Oh and Tom, the old impeller was in a lot worse shape than I could feel from the clean out hole.
I'm glad I made the change.

But all's well that ends well, I trimmed off the base just a tad so it fit perfectly and got it bolted down and nutted inside.  ;D

All I can say is I'd hate to install them for a living!   I hope it was worth the effort.  I should know in a day or so.  It's supposed to be 85 and sunny here in pa for 4 days in a row  ;D ;D ;D ;D

We took it out today.  The speedo was tilted up a bit so it read 10 to about 40 mph..

 I forgot the gps...

It seems slower with the AA impeller and loader.  I need more rpms to get back to the
big power.

In the picture you can see how I checked the depth of the loader.  Was that correct Tom.

The straight edge was across the inlet.
