Do I need to get a loader now while my pump is apart ?

Dont matter............Loaders are installed from the bottom (intake) can be installed any time ;D
But yes you need one, and polish it >:D

From what i understand it forces water into the pump but thats all i know........... i will tell you more after i take the Bahner out. its got a loader >:D

I was asking the peeps at CP this weekend at the boat show and from my understanding it loads the pump with more water at less RPM. I'm sure Tom or Josh at JBP can tell us the real story. I am also looking into getting an SS loader.

The loader can be installed two ways. Like it is stock, with 4 bolts up from the bottom. Most people with serious HP, or people that race (mandated), you drill the stock holes in the intake all of the way through the intake and thread the holes as well. Then you bolt in the loader up from the bottom and put nuts on the top. Putting the nuts on is a pain in the asss with the engine in (from what I have heard).
There are different "stages" of loaders. Certain loaders are for under 500 HP and other's are for over 500 HP. There are also different lengths of loaders and putting a loader in that is too short or too long will slow your boat down and possibly make the boat handle poorly.

Well then i might want to take mine out and just run a grate..... he said he was running over 500 hp and it has a cut "B" impeller in it......... I might be pushing 300HP with this small454 set up i got now.
I will just try it before i go changing shit again ;D

For me and my heavy ass old Nordic, when i put a loader on it made one hellofva difference getting on a plane. I didnt need to just about floor it to get on a plane Mark

Jet Drive Under water hardware eg; Loader and shoe ,shoe dept and intake opening etc including "ad/ subtract" changes modifications and the like ,IOM can only be effectively and properly done by "test & tune" with intake drilled tapped and equipt with pressure guages for comparison readings and data.
None of this is "plug n play" ,admittedly there will be recommended "starting points" according to Boat type and bottom style , intended useage, HP, what impeller and on and on... its all an experiment.
Nothing will ever prove to be optimum with out experimentation! ,one will never know that without comparisons and trial error.
Post up as much info as possible to get started if you need help !

Gonna Tag team this biach ;D With that being said top loaders help distribute the water across the face of the impeller and towards the top. Some types of loaders also decrese the flow to the top of the impeller (ie blockers). The length of the ramps can (and in most cases need to be) tuned to achive propper preasures, and to prevent potential ill handleing characteristics (like hard left turns on decel). Also if the ramps protrude to far down they can rob water from the shoe.
The over 500hp statment some manufactures claim in my opinion is a broad and ambiguouse statment. Different bottoms, installed angles, intake placement, hardware and other bolt ons are all going to require differnent types of tune. Not unlike cylinder heads, intake manifold, carburetors, camshafts, and displacement......

I have a loader on my Nordic as well but it is not through bolted. That is one of my Spring to dos before it hits the water.

Only pro's that I can think of . Just be carefull in shallow water . I think there has been enough proven daytona testing that you can probably call MPD and have them make you one . I'm sure he'll ask what ever he needs to know .
Loader ramp with a blocker , black oxide bolts , through bolted with nuts .
I've been told that the blocker is suppose to aid in "lift" . It also decreases the amount of water into the pump , thus more RPM . It's a double edge sword since water moves your boat regardless of RPM .

In the world of Jet Boats , there is no definate set up . Hopefully you can barrow some and do some testing . Maybe someone has one out of a Bahner somewhere .
