Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and new to owning a boat. I've always loved jets and finally decided to buy one a few months back. Found a complete boat for $600 and I jumped on it figuring if the boat was a compete pile I could part it out and sell the trailer for at least that.

Took a little work to get it running, new hoses, carb rebuild, distributor cap, rotor, coil, and wires but the 460 runs pretty strong now. I've ran new wiring, cables, and gauges. Got her on the lake for the first time yesterday and she ran without problems... Fingers crossed it keeps that up. I've got some noise coming from the pump (12jc a) and it sounds like the thrust bearing. Threw some grease at it and I couldn't really tell if that helped at all. It's like a knocking sound at idle and at rpm I can still hear it but it's harder since the thing is much louder. I know that sometimes the play in the driveline can cause some noise at idle but goes away under load.

Regardless, the pump should be rebuilt anyways.  Now I'm a cheap, just out of college dude and don't have tons of money to throw around at this thing. Is there anyone who sells rebuild kits cheaper than the ones berk offers? Those are almost as much as I paid for the whole boat

I'm in the same position right now... Just rebuilt my motor and getting ready to drop back in... Checked the thrust bearing all the bearings fell out.. Crap!!!!  Trying to get my boat ready and back together before 7/27/2013 ..  If you have any extra thrust bearings or anything that I could use  and want to sell them for a decent price ill paypal your ASAP if you can ship it out ASAP... Let me know....just bought the boat and only had it out twice this summer... Guy I bought it from said oh ya it runs excellent no problems.... Bs!!!  Anyway let me know if you could help me out.. Would be greatly appreciated...

Don't get a China main thrust...whoever you get the kit from. Most sell complete for around 250+

Do I need to pull the impeller off to get the thrust bearing out and put new one in ...?? I got everything off up to the impeller .. Now what do I do??

Yes . is the pump out of the boat ? motor or the pump has to be removed. the impeller shaft comes out once impeller is removed. you need a puller to get impeller off shaft.
the impeller shaft comes out towards driver seat.

Motor is already out of boat .. So pull the impeller off and the shaft and thrust bearing will pull out from the front of the boat???

Yes . the shaft and bearing will come out all together. the bearing will need to be pressed off of shaft. and Yes if pump still installed ..shaft comes out back of boat to front.

Awesome thanks for the help.. Guess ill be pulling it out in the morningand getting a new bearing around noon ...  Then picking up my block from the machine shop and start assembling motor back together finally.....

Soo got the impeller off and shaft out.. Now the thrust bearing race is still stuck in the housing... How the hell do I get it out ... Plz help !!! Trying to get this all done before the 27th ... Uugghhhhh  lol

What do you mean the bearing race is still in the housing? The outer race came off the thrust? Is the bearing stuck in the suction housing?

Anytime you are working on boat stuff, dissimilar metals are your mortal enemy. My recommendation if the bearing is frozen into the suction piece is to use a little bit of head and either an old pump shaft or a large brass drift...
