I have a manual control Place Divertor cable, brand new out of the box, black in color, about 15' long.

anyone no a place that sells them for a resonable price.

We offer only quality Hardin Marine cables for all applications such as forward/reverse, trim, and throttle. These cables are made by the same company who makes Mercury cables and is custom designed in a 11mm diameter to fit snuggly in Place Diverter and Berkeley cable grommets unlike the 9mm diameter Teleflex cables. Try them and feel the difference. (http://"http://www.cpperformance.com/products/Controls/shift-throttle-cables.htm")

Rod, I might be interested in that cable.  I'll try to get a measurement this weekend.

Sounds great, make an offer. Pm's work better for offer's but either way...

The cable in my boat is only about 12' long, maybe next time.

Thanks anyway

I don't know about these guys but the boats we work on don't use the metric system ;D  I rarely have a problem getting the forward/reverse packing to seal on Teleflex when using a new replacement seal, but we've devised a new seal assembly to eliminate the awkward OE assembly (much easier to install), I'm gonna make some more tomorrow I'll see if I can get a pic up (they look cool too).  As far as getting the PD cable seal to seal with a Teleflex, It's usually as simple as repacing the rubber grommet with the seal you would use on the OE f/r packer, works like a charm (the rounded flange makes the edges of the gromet pinch in). I made a 33c cable seal through a PD seal doing that the other day 8)

Save some money, get some true-experienced insight, go JBP. CPP seems to throw a premium onto the price of their products...

While me may be new to this site we are definately not new to jet boats. Not only do we sell and manufacture more jet boat parts and accessories than any other company in the world, we also own, build and service jet drives. I'm not quite sure where or what a premium is considered ? Are you talking about the fact that we offer the largest secure order online performance website in the industry or that we are the only supplier to provide a new 300 page catalog every year.

Yes we did reference the cable size above in metric for ease of understanding. But to clarify 9mm is.354 or 17/48 of an inch while 11mm is .433 or 13/30 of an inch. There is a considerable quality and fit difference between a Teleflex cable and a Hardin cable. First you don't have to make the Hardin cable seal. It is designed to the "EXACT" spec's that Berkeley used. It is also 100% stainless steel which the Teleflex cable isn't.

So to clear things up the only real premium we offer is service, purchasing options, premium products, and even a toll free number to order them from 800-225-9871

While I have much love for the crew at JBP I always went with the creed "cheapest isn't always best." Always do the homework when it comes to pricing and components. While store A might have one price and store B might be 15% more. If the 15% is explained to me to be of better quality that I can understand and don't feel like I am being "bullshitted" then I usually spend the difference. But when I call Tom or Jack at MPD etc. and ask the difference between parts and price and they give me real world and actaul "usage experience" that they both have tons of. Then I will go with there options 99% of the time. I don't like calling a dude who is sitting at his desk with 40 parts catalogs and sounds like a machine. I like calling the guy who answers the phone with greasy hands, smells like sweat and wont bullshit me from one product to the other.

That's why I hate calling Summit or Jeg's I always get

"Umm yeah that should work".

CPPerformance I know you guys know your stuff and always stop by your sight when shopping as well

exactly my reasoning. I'll do my best to avoid major distributors, and people who offer the 300 page catalog. In my experience, larger companies do exactly what you just did. Bully you into their product. I'll stick with good old American homegrown Jet Boat Performance and Aggressor Jets. I'm sure your products are good, but your last post just killed your image for me. Yes, your prices are a lot higher for identical products. Specifically exhaust products, higher in fact than Teague Custom Marine (who just so happens to claim they build the best engines in the world). Your service might be amazing, but I'll never know. I'll also never pay the extra dollar you guys require for your "service". Thanks anyway.

Furthermore, none of us have ever received such an unfriendly response from our boys at JBP. Quite a way to build a relationship with us here. Whoever you are at cpp, you definitely need to develop a bit of tact when responding with your business's name as the reference point. Good luck with all your future ventures, if I need a Hardin cable I'll be sure to contact Hardin.

I have always had excellent service from CP and spent I'm sure 2-3 grand there. Good products, good service and quick delivers. I dont think CP was being unfriendly, just trying to point out some differences between the products. Ron

OK Guy's let me clarify a couple of things here. There's no bullying just information here my post was an attempt to show just what we do and how hard we work to support our sport. I know what you mean about big catalog houses with people who don't even have a clue about the sport. What I'm here to say is that we are boaters like yourselves. Over 80% of our staff actually own's boats and when we hire we look for enthusiasts. We will never and can never be all things to all people, but I do take pride in our staff and the efforts we go to everyday to be involved. We are increasing our presence here in merely an attempt to offer additional support to this site and our sport. The other guys listed here are all excellent and offer excellent support and knowledge we truly are happy that they are involved in the sport. If your getting great service stay where you are...I would. But if you seek additional information or product comparisons take a look at us. Were merely friends not foe's.

Happy Boating

Some of us are just grateful to have a company like CP arround! When I first got into boating I had no idea where to get parts from and you guys helped me out tremendousley!!! There is only one real jet boat shop in my area and he charges a arm and a leg for most of his stuff. I am sure he gets most of his parts from you as well and just marks them up.

Thanks for the clarification, however that was a completely different tune. You just changed from E to A, in musical terms.

Lets get something clear I'm not a politician and am not wishy washy. If i was mis-interpreted then I will accept that as just plain poor writing on my part. I'm not here to hide behind a screen name I can be reached at 800-225-9871 ext25 on most everyday. Yes I get a little boisterous about how good I think our company and products are but that's because I make most of those choices. I am not a bully just a guy that loves this business and truly believes in everything we sell. Are our cables better? You better believe it! Do we work more hours and spend more time trying to bring new products to you? You bet. Are we your only choice? Heck no there are many great people to serve you I only ask(Never Demand) for your consideration. Please don't confuse the tune as a change just passion for the sport. The tune was not a reverse just merely a better clarification of the fact that we value all of you as customers.

Sincerely
Scott

As with any vendor . There is a tremendous risk in sticking your necks out there with free support and advise especially with the invention of the internet reaching so far . For that , Thank you Tom @ JBP  ;) , Rex Marine , and Scott @ CCP .

My own opinion is that good shit aint cheap and cheap shit aint good . Every vendor has there bread and butter and the more options our arena of boating has , the bigger commercially it will get and the more becomes available to us . Anytime I can go online or call some place to get a quality brand new part at a price I can afford , it's a good thing . CP Performance is just another great place to get parts and there catalog is huge . Just another place I go when shopping around .

Just as Marc said , I bought my first boat and was completly lost (no internet even). Eddie Marine is within pissing distance , and Rex is on my way home from work 98% of the time . Sometimes both have been on the pricey side but if one guy dont have what I need , the other guy does , I talk to a guy face to face and I'm on my way home .

BACK ON TOPIC :
I dont know where the confusion started but thats neither here nor there . When shopping for a cable or any underwater hardware , that is not something you want to skimp on . Anyone ever had a diverter cable let go at speed. I haven't and dont plan on it . Do your shopping around and if you can , get your hands on a cable and see for your self if the YOU think the quality is worth paying for . DO SOME SHOPPING FOLKS !

Sorry guys, I had just finished reading this one that contained no help on the subject in addition to what I view as an attack...
Brad,

Quite a statement about Berkeley have you had actual dealings with them? What "Bad" information were you provided? While all of the folks you mentioned are excellent at their craft. I am surprised at your point of view you must have some substantiated back ground for the claim?

Soon after I read this thread, I guess I had already built up some steam.

Wow just read this thread. Colby aren't you being a little negative towards CP? They have helped me in the past with store bought goods, and I didn't read anything that sounded negative. I for one rather have as much support and help in our sport as we can, just as Scott had said.

Then again it looks like I missed a few post, or deleted
