Title: Need some of your opinions
Post by: redpanda2765 on March 02, 2021, 12:40:39 PM
I want to get this droop snoot and ride plate assembly. But I dont know if it would work with my pump. And also would it be worth it to even get it or is it just a waste of money here is a picture of the my pump currently and what I’m thinking about getting? Thanks in advance.

Use the search option to read about droop and ride plates. Its been covered multiple times.
By adding a droop and ride plate what are you trying to achieve?

I’m just trying to get on plain faster and throw a higher roost. I have a manual place diverter already

A droop will not accomplish either one of those. Not worth the money just for a higher roost (IMO). A good tight detailed pump with machined shoe and ride plate will help with hole shot, along with inducer.

Your roost will not get higher.... It will help with planning. The droop keeps the thrust level low and more inline with the keel. Some hauls react better than others. There is a bunch of different factors that make up how your set up will handle  IE, weight, engine placement, diverter angle etc. Maybe see if someone out there has one to barrow or buy used. Who knows. It might not help the boat at all. Trial and error..

Get some wedges and play with those if you want a higher roost. They’re cheaper.

Thanks for the reply’s I think I’m going to hold off on the droop and ride plate for a set up I’ve been dreaming about later on down the line.

Despite what the others are saying the droop will give you a taller roost. It has a different pin angle than the stock nozzle adapter. Not sure what it is off the top of my head.

The first two pics are the roost from my Advantage with a droop (and 600hp).

The PD droop/ride plate setup should work pretty decent on your boat. If you don't like it after all there are several people on the hunt for that setup so you'll be able to sell it.

Last pic is my buddy's LS powered Bahner. It likes the droop and ride plate.

Very nice. Thanks for the input I was looking at adding a Berkley 8 degree wedge but I’m worried I’m going to loose my ability to get on plain as fast as I do now with a 4 degree wedge
