There are 2 "pipe plugs" on the bowl. There was a post on here somewhere about the same sort of question but im not sure the question was ever answered about what to put in those holes, and what do they lubricate? Im getting the boat ready for laughin and im leaving friday morning so any answer quickly would be great

The two plugs in the bowl are for gear lube (I use regular old "hypoid 90") take out both plugs and squirt from one until out of the other comes a bit of oil....It fills a small cavity where the bowl bearings reside...

If the seal in the impeller side of the bowl is toast, this will be full of water/goo...Fill it and run it (it is not winter yet  )

Somewhere...... I have the actual "excerpt" from the late 60's Berk manual that specifies gear oil but..... says that practically anything is OK and acceptable (or words) says oil is good , watery oil is common (needs service though) and goes on , I will find this and post some , fact is most all the DU /glacier bushings (tail shaft) we use in our pumps are designed to run in oil , water (like old Dominators) and yikes even dry (some applications) They (most all sold) PTFE coated Although we do covert some of the bowls to Grease lube for various reasons. We still prefer to keep the Berks oil bath as originally produced

does anyone know if you can put like a berkeley 12 jc place diverter on a berkeley E pump or is the E pump place diverter compatiable with any other berkeley pump place diverters?

"E" diverters are unique in the way they are set up to control the up/down trim , reverse and steering , one can adapt an from other Berkeley type applications if your willing to make some other minor changes (steering and other cable relocations) , we do these rountineley , my current boat has a standard Place unit on a E pump  , Conversley I Cant imagine why one would ever attemp to put an E specific diverter on a standard Berk set up however (mainley due to the steering control Tom
