Does the hoses have to be equal length???
« on: July 14, 2010, 08:28:15 PM »
While my motor is out i was Tidying up how the Water line from the pump to the T sits . I attached it to the left stringer . My question is will it pump more to the left log than the right since the left sides hose is shorter . Will it make a difference? Thanks

The long answer..... :D

The only time hose length comes in to play when talking about volume is when the flow is near the maximum volume capacity of said hose...In other words, if a 5/8" hose had a max recommended volume of say 10 GPM (made up number) and you were pushing 3 through it, it would make very little difference, but if you were getting 10, or even 11 GPM flow, then you may have an issue...The longer the tube/hose, the more restrictive it becomes, if very few bends are present, your better off...

A tightly bent 90* would equal a few feet of hose for example...Now if the short hose goes to a 90* fitting and the long to a straight fitting, there could be a foot or two of difference and still run at maximum flow...

I was going to go into cv (or coefficient values) but figured I would keep it somewhat layman for now...

In answer to your question.....What size hose and how are you plumbed?   :sly:

3/4 inch hose off jet 3 ft in length to Brass T , 5/8 hose 2ft length going to right log , 5/8 hose 1ft length going to left log.........

Cv...  doh!  What kind of fittings do you have on each run? A lot of fittings have a smaller diameter than the id of the hose. That's a cv issue.  If they are right angle. That's another restriction. Without running the numbers my gut says your non tubing issues are a larger contibutor than tubing lenght variations.  Doh

A 12" difference will not be noticeable IMHO    ::)  ....run it like a rental  :D
