Title: PD Pivot Pin Removal?

I'm getting ready to have the powder coating stripped off my Place Diverter and need to disassemble it. Everything seems pretty straight forward except the pins the reverse bucket pivots on. They're in a blind hole with no way I can see to push them out. Short of welding a bolt on the end and slide-hammering them out is there a trick I'm not seeing?

Attached is a pic of the pivot pin in question.

The pins for the trim pivot do go all the way through. This pin is for the reverse bucket and it does not go all the way through.

Haven't tried heat yet. I did put a small screwdriver in the retaining bolt hole but there isn't much in there to pry against.

Post by: Flusher on April 16, 2015, 06:37:02 PM: We heat the area with a torch an pour Jet-a-way fluid in the gap while tapping the other side of reverse bucket with a hammer to hydraulic the pin out.

Jet-a-way fluid is basically 80% trans fluid and 20% gear oil although I am sure you could use any waste oil.

Once you get them out, drill/tap them on a lathe for 5/16-18 but do not break into the 1/4-20 retaining bolt holes.

Are they stuck in there that tight?

Try Kroil, if you can find it in "paradise".

And do yourself a favor for the next time you have to pull them out: Drill and tap the end of them for a 1/4-20 bolt/rod. Have a machine shop do it for you if you don't have the tools. It won't cost much.
